Bugsy – An aerobic System specially developed for Treating Wastewaters in Septic Tanks.
Septic Tanks, normally are, anaerobic systems, generating foul smelling Methane and Hydrogen Sulphide (smell of Rotten Eggs) gases.
Whereas Aerobic Systems; though have small operational costs, but result in only Carbon Dioxide and water.
Sludge settles at the bottom of the Septic Tank, requiring frequent removal. Anaerobic Systems clog the soil, resulting in poor percolation of wastewater into the ground causing it to flow off the surface.
Bugsy is not only a system, but is also a blend of facultative micro organisms. Facultative means both aerobic and anaerobic, that which needs air (aerobic) to live and eat and can survive without air (anaerobic).
Bugsy is such a blend of microorganisms that it biodegrades any or all organic (and some inorganic too) compounds, given adequate time to act. Its food, to grow and multiply, is the organic compounds within the wastewater.

The Bugsy Breathes New Life
Into Septic Systems
After installing the Bugsy into any single or a two chamber septic tank system, the Bugsy Blend of powerful Biological aerobes immediately begin acting on solids within the tank and continues to operate in the soak pit, degrading any left over waste or the clogging mucous.
Over billions of years Nature evolved aerobic (oxygen – breathing) bacteria as the more effective organism for degrading waste. Septic tanks discharge partly digested wastes into the soak pit. Mucous generating stomach bacteria overwhelm the Septic Tank treatment, clogging the soil of the soak pit.
The Bugsy system puts life into the Septic Tank, using its air circulation to grow specialized, developed and strengthened bacteria on fluidized surface areas.
The Bugsy transmits zillions of Bugsy aerobes (more than a million of them in every milli liter) keeping the treatment effective till the soak pit.
The Bugsy aerates, circulates and degrades the entire contents of the septic tank. Bugsy acts upon all sorts of Biological waste, even if it is industrial, in nature. The only consideration, in such a case would be to assess the C.O.D. and the B.O.D. of the wastewater and possibly prepare a specific system. The system comprises of, the Bugsy bacterial multiplier and the Bugsy blend of specialized, strengthened and adapted bacterial culture, suited for most effluents – industrial or domestic
The Bugsy multiplier consists of a diffuser and an air pump (consuming about 40 watts of energy) and where the bacteria grow (over a media), survives, oxidizes and moves with the discharged wastewater.
The Bugsy bacteria is a blend of 56 identified bacterial culture, with more than a million ‘colony forming units’ per milliliter. It contains mesophyllic, thermophyllic (high temperatures) and psycrophyllic (low temperatures) bacteria, fungi and enzymes to promote biodegradation and oxidation of the waste. It can take shock loads, abrupt temperature changes (operating between 5 Deg. Celsius to 65 Deg. Celsius), varied pH values (between 5.5 and 9.5) and degrades Oils and Grease.
Bugsy is most ideally suited for hills, where night temperatures, are low and render normal (aerobic or anaerobic) bacteria unsuitable for treating such wastewaters.

Problems in Septic Tanks
Septic Odours of Methane and Hydrogen Sulphide
Ingests Nitrates into soils
Mucous producing; resulting in clogging Soak Pit
Needs frequent cleaning of Septic Tank and Soak Pit.
Treated wastewater contains large quantities of organic solids.
What Bugsy does to solve these problems?
Rectifies problematic Septic Tanks
Shows early Improvement
Eliminates Foul Smell
Protects new Septic systems
Helps in water recharging
Protects environmentally friendly locations
Can be installed in existing tanks
How does the Bugsy work?
Septic Systems are closed systems, that is, other than the particular wastewaters, for which they are purported, no other wastewater is allowed to enter it. It follows that no other bacteria can enter the system until the wastewater leaves the septic tank and enters the soak pit. The organic solid settled in the Septic Tank, may need removal.
The majority of the bacteria in the septic tank are anaerobic stomach bacteria.
These bacteria excrete slime like mucous, protecting the anaerobes from Oxygen, which is fatal for them. When in contact with the soak pit soil and secrete this slime in copious amounts which eventually clogs the pores of the soil.
The Bugsy solves this problem in a simple manner. The Bugsy being the most efficient aerator of the septic system sends streams of micronised air (through a diffuser), with a high Oxygen Transfer Efficiency, into the wastewater. The high exposure to Oxygen simply kills the anaerobes within the Septic System. The Bugsy also augments the Septic System with the Bugsy blend of Bacterial Culture.
This bacterial culture builds up a huge population (known as Bio Mass) within the Multiplying Device as well as the Septic Tank, causing the wastewater solids to oxidize and degenerate into Oxygen and Water. The Bugsy blend of bacteria then travels within the treated wastewater to the soak pit and starts to digest the mucous, which may be clogging the soil pores.
With the mucous gone, the soil pores allow the wastewaters again, to permeate.
Technical Details of Operations (Model - B200/15)
- For up to 3000 Liter per Day of Effluent, 15 liters / minute of air is released into the effluent
- Air Pump consumes 40 watts of power. For lesser effluent quantity the air pump need not be operated continuously.
- 95% voids in the media.
- Can reduce B.O.D. by 90 to 95%
